Leg Cycling Leads to Improvement of Spasticity by Enhancement of Presynaptic Inhibition in Patients with Cerebral Palsy

چکیده
Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate if leg cycling could reduce lower extremity spasticity in patients with cerebral palsy (CP). In addition, we investigated whether the intervention cause changes modulation presynaptic inhibition. Methods: This a quasi-experimental study, pretest–posttest for 1 group. Participants experiment were eight adult CP spasticity. Spasticity parameters assessed amplitude soleus maximum Hoffmann’s reflex (Hmax) and angular velocity (MAV) knee flexion measured using pendulum test. D1 inhibition, which seems be related recorded by measuring (H-reflex) conditioned electric stimuli common peroneal nerve. Results: inhibition significantly enhanced immediately intervention. Hmax depressed, there significant difference Hmax/maximum M-wave. MAV increased due stretch reflex. Conclusion: Leg suppressed H-reflex, caused plasticity inhibitory circuits These findings strongly suggest that can improved movements.

Altered lower leg muscle activation patterns in patients with cerebral palsy during cycling on an ergometer
OBJECTIVE Cycling on a recumbent ergometer constitutes one of the most popular rehabilitation exercises in cerebral palsy (CP). However, no control is performed on how muscles are being used during training. Given that patients with CP present altered muscular activity patterns during cycling or walking, it is possible that an incorrect pattern of muscle activation is being promoted during reha...

متن کاملManagement of Spasticity in Children with Cerebral Palsy
Cerebral palsy is the most common cause of spasticity and physical disability in children and spasticity is one of the commonest problems in those with neurological disease. The management of spasticity in children with cerebral palsy requires a multidisciplinary effort and should be started as early as possible. There are a number of treatments available for the management of spasticity. This ...
